We started this project in 2013, making just 69 odd cases with the help of Michael Cruse in Petaluma. Since then, we have been refining our techniques in our own cellar. This bottling, made 100% at our Goleta winery in the true Methode Champenoise, is bone dry, with zero dosage. You’ll find it clean and crisp, though pleasingly complex, with lovely signature Jurassic Park flavors of apricot and quince throughout.
The 2020 Cinsault Camp Four Vineyard is elegant and easy to drink, although it will be great on the table. It features bright scents of Rainier cherries and ripe blackberries with notes of autumn leaves, mossy bark, mushroom and dark spices. The light-bodied palate is silky and bright with generous, earth-laced fruit and a long, spicy finish. 93 pts Wine Advocate
Our versatile take on France’sChâteauneuf-du-Pape is made with Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre. Custom blended each vintage and aged in neutral oak, this crowd-pleasing wine strikes a perfect balance between bright red fruit, spice and earth. Year after year, our Pape Star remains a fan favorite for its medium-bodied weight, elegant texture and versatility when it comes to pairing wine and food.
Our 2023 is concentrated yet refined with a lovely nose of ripe apricots, lychee and white peaches and just the precise amount of acidity to keep that impression lifted and light. The wine also shows an intriguing almost saline minerality that has become a trademark of this site for us. Let it be the star on your dinner table by serving it with a simple roast chicken and green salad.
A decade plus in the bottle has grounded the gorgeous vibrant tones in this wine, turning what was once bright, candied apricot to luscious flavors of caramelized orange. For those of you who want something sweet, dram of this is a perfect way to end any meal.
