Our 2016 opens with fresh red berries, leather and a hint of graphite on the nose. The tannins are mild and the texture is smooth. We like that there is plenty of fruit here but no excess of sweetness.
The 2016 Syrah John Sebastiano Vineyard is attractive and gracious, with lovely aromatic presence and tons of finesse. At times, the 2016 feels very Pinot-like in its structure and overall feel. Dark red and purplish berry fruit offer quite a bit of resonance, but readers who want to get more Syrah aromatics and overall complexity should plan on cellaring the wine for at least a few years. 93 pts
