Rarely vinified as a single varietal, Counoise is a gem that’s been hiding in plain sight for centuries. Circa 1400, Spanish monks planted Counoise in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region, and ever since, its silky and spicy personality has been a significant addition to some of southern France’s most prestigious wines. Today we offer you the opportunity to experience this extraordinary variety on its own. Pepper and clove introduce licorice brushed aromas of plum, strawberry, raspberry and citrus that define an astonishingly light body. This is a wine that won’t overpower vegetable or seafood and can also stand up to big game. Serve cool.
